Many IT shops now face the requirement to collect and consolidate log files. But, circumstances often further complicate the matter. Maybe those logs are spread across branch offices connected by WAN links? Or, perhaps you face limited network bandwidth to transfer uncompressed log data? Maybe you have multiple untrusting domains running within a single physical network? Dorian's Importer ™ utility working alongside Event Archiver ® provides a solution for these and other challenging scenarios. To accomplish these tasks, the Event Archiver Importer utility constantly polls a directory on the computer where it is installed for incoming compressed log files collected by various Event Archiver installations throughout the network. Each Event Archiver installation can be configured to transmit these compressed log files automatically via standard Windows Network shared folders OR via FTP. Once the files arrive in the incoming directory, the Event Archiver Importer Service immediately decompresses them and imports their contents into centralized tables on an Oracle or Microsoft SQL database server.
Only comma-delimited text files (uncompressed or compressed) are actually read into the database. Compressed or uncompressed EVT / EVTX files are stored in a final destination of the administrators' choosing. Dorian's Importer utility requires the use of Event Archiver and is available at no charge with purchase of Dorian's Total Event Log Management Suite ™ for at least 5 servers or 25 workstations. Otherwise, Importer is available for $999.95 USD per database server into which it imports log data. Interested in a quote? Just email sales@doriansoft.com.
